Care advice for your furniture:
Thank you for choosing Stylish Homes Canterbury Furniture.
We pride ourselves on the quality of our products and it is now important for you to take some time to maintain the finish.
Your furniture has been finished in an easy to maintain hard lacquer for general protection; so as to ensure your furniture lasts a lifetime we recommend to simply wipe over with a damp cloth.
For any stubborn greasy marks a little mild detergent in the water can be used.
Dry off with a clean cloth. Do not use silicone based furniture polishes.
We believe that every piece of Stylish Homes Canterbury furniture is unique and is made from a naturally occurring materials, it is important you are aware that it may feature some variations in the colour, texture and/or grain and whilst we try to keep these variations to a minimum, if present they serve to add character and charm.
Cracks in the wood
Wood is naturally hygroscopic, meaning that its moisture content varies depending on local humidity levels. Although, Stylish Homes furniture has been naturally and kiln dried, humidity changes may result in some cracking or movement. Please do not be alarmed if some cracks or gaps appear, this is a completely normal response to the furniture’s environment.
Heat
It is not advisable to position your furniture near to a direct heat source, such as a radiator. Avoid placing hot objects on your furniture and always use coasters/mats for warm food & drinks.
Dusting Dust your furniture regularly with a clean, dry duster.
Spillages
If you spill anything on the surface of your furniture, ensure you clean it up as soon as you can using a ‘blotting’ action. Abrasive cleaning products & household furniture sprays Never use abrasive cleaning products or furniture sprays on or near your furniture as they damage the finish.
Direct sunlight
Try not to leave your furniture in direct sunlight as this may cause the furniture to become dehydrated and/or fade. Placing objects on furniture To prevent minor marks and scratches, always use place
Please Note: Never place hot items (e.g. casserole dishes straight from the oven, saucepans or hot chinaware such as plates or mugs) directly onto the table without using a heat resistant mat or trivet as direct heat will draw out the moisture in the wood and will leave a ring mark ingrained into the wood.
Please Note: Most of our pieces of furniture are often made entirely out of natural Oak and it should always be remembered that they should not be exposed directly to excessive heat or moisture. For instance, do not place your furniture immediately adjacent to radiators and in the event of any spillages, wipe up all liquids as soon as possible before the liquid has the opportunity to soak into the wood.
